In the subject Developers and Motivations, we have studied some of the most important leaders in the world of free software. This post will try to give a brief biography, both personal and professional, of any of these leaders.
In first time I talk about Matthias Ettrich.
This FLOSS Leader born in June 14th of 1972, in Bietigheim (near Stuttgart, Germany), he studied computer science in the Institute of Computer Science at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen.
In 1995, he created the Lyx Text Processor in 1995, which is a graphical front-end of LaTeX. Trying to improve Lyx GUI, in 1996 founded the KDE project. In 6th November of 2009, got the Federal Cross of Merit for his contributions to Free Software.
Ettrich has great relevance in the world of graphical tools and free graphical environments, he began KDE project that nowadays is one of the desktop environments currently used in different operating systems.
