Starting with Python

Between the first and the second class of the subject Development Tools, took our first steps in Python, a programming language for high level due to its clean and simple syntax, whith the objetive of have a code readable and to use. It is also among the most widely used programming languages in the world of software development.

Its main features are:

– Interpreted Language.

– Object oriented, but also allows imperative programming and functional (multiparadigm).

– Dynamic typing.

– The interpreter is extensible (written in C)

– Multiplatform.

– Free Software (licensed Python Software Foundation License).

How to start?

As usual when you start with a new programming language, we start with a small script of “Hello World”, which is something so very simple as this:

#! / Usr / bin / env python
print “Hello World”

This will save a file with the extension “py” and you can see the results on the console, run the command: “python”

During six years, I worked with various programming languages such as Java, VB, PHP or JavaScript; and I think Python is one of the easiest to learn and use, this makes it attractive to developers as they get results very quickly, and also for those who voluntarily begin in the software development world. I think this is one of the keys to the success of this language, widely used in the free software world.

Obviously for the moment I don’t have enough knowledge to give a higher value on Python, but I can say, that has caught my attention, and that makes me interested in learning more things and develop some of my projects in this language.

I leave you some links so you can start in the Python world, good luck.
